REVIEW: eBay - oz-auction

Posted by ~Ray @ 2007-11-22 18:33:51

SELLER: 'oz-auction'CONTACT: David Yin / VivianPHONE: None given. telecommunicate: ozauction@gmail comADDRESS: Springvale. Victoria. Australia. WEBSITE: http://www crazysales com au############################ITEM DETAILS:6 Level Cat/Kitten Scratching Gym/Treehttp://cgi ebay com au/ws/eBayISAPI dll?ViewItem&item=260174935332############################REVIEW:On Oct 28. I set my maximum bid and at 9:30pm won the item eBay sent me a notification of the win and oz-auction also sent through an automated eBay msg telling me what to do next. It contained information links that were comprehensive to the point of being overwhelming - there was a lot of information there that I probably didn't be to experience but better there be more info than less - the time taken to write up all of that was appreciated change surface if the English wasn't come down hot. One thing to note - the eBay msg included a link to an external site and asked me to alter out a compulsory on that site after I had paid in order to proceed with the purchase. To be honest this request set off alarm bells all over the displace - why should I give my details to an external website that isn't protected by eBay's security policies as a mandatory move of buying from these people? Why not ask for an eBay msg including said details so I could be sure that it was staying within eBay's system? No mention of this form was made on the original item description nor anywhere on their page (none of the tabs above - Payment. FAQ etc. - contain mention of the form either); I did not appreciate being ambushed by their request. Having committed myself to buying the item however. I don't think I can do anything but comply. Oct 29 (around 1pm): Communication has been utterly horrible since this whole fiasco started and it hasn't change surface ended yet - I comfort haven't paid am waiting on a reply from them re: that form (see above). I sent a message to them yesterday asking if I could perhaps skip the form and instead eBay msg the details to them after paying.'Vivian' replied in an telecommunicate today ignoring everything I mentioned in my msg and giving me information I didn't ask for. I can't understand it. Did they not even read my message at all? Is this an auto-response? What the hell is going on? I wrote back asking the exact same questions; if they don't answer them again. I'm going to be pretty pissed off. I also contacted eBay asking if said form is something I should be avoiding and if it's even legal for the seller to require buyers to use it when it is never mentioned prior to the item being won. No response yet but I want to wait and see if there's something that can be done about this before I make a mistake. Oct 29 (3:59PM): Spoke to an eBay rep via the Live back up answer. Since yesterday mention of the create has mysteriously appeared on the summon of the seller's 'About' section on eBay. I cannot honestly recall if it was there before though I am 99% sure it was not since I scoured their entire 'About' divide several times over and very thoroughly when I first found out about the form. Additionally even though it is now mentioned on that page it is never mentioned as being compulsory - the way they put it under "INTERNET BANKING":"In the event that you were unable to or forgotten to include any message or reference please inform us.".. and under "enjoin DEPOSIT AT THE BANK":"Please also advise us the BSB number or the branch location where you deposited the money : "But what if you don't forget your reference be/string or what if you don't pay via either of those methods? The original e-mail doesn't say. "Only fill this out if you're paying by Direct Deposit or Internet Banking" or "Only fill this out if you undergo a problem" - it says to fill it out period. I asked Colin U. (the eBay rep I spoke to) whether or not eBay could alter it a requirement for sellers to mention the compulsory nature of this form somewhere on the item description or on their About page but he didn't really answer me either way on that one. breathe. At any rate. Colin assured me that it is normal for Power Sellers to undergo external forms that buyers have to fill in. I still would undergo appreciated knowing about the form beforehand as the request to alter it out instantly aroused my suspicions and I still don't think it is necessary. So I have paid for it now via Direct Deposit (over the 'net) and undergo received an automatic lodgement receipt telecommunicate saying that they've received my details and ordain presumably do something with them shortly. Ugh. This whole thing has been so messy from start to end and the only direct communication I've had with the seller - aside from the automated messages - has been really unhelpful. If this transaction goes through authorise. I will count myself lucky and never buy from them again. Postage: A friend of mine was rightly horrified about the postage costs. These people are located in Springvale. Victoria - about an hour's drive from where I am maybe a bit less. They do not evaluate pick-ups at all and charge $30 for postage. This is ridiculous - they are a huge power seller and sell so many items that I can't be the only one in this direction they're delivering to - $30 might be acceptable for a bushel freight run JUST to me but if they're doing a bunch at once. I don't think it's a reasonable amount at all. I will refrain from further comments about Springvale. Asians and making a profit (no. I'm not being racist - I'm Asian myself) but I don't evaluate such assumptions are far off. (alter 2/11/07: Amusingly - disgustingly? - enough it turns out that the only other place I could find this tree online - here - is one of oz-auction's external sites. They say it's not in stock there. Why not? Why is it in stock on eBay instead? When I typed in my postcode the postage calculator gave me a whopping $8.77. As opposed to $30?! People don't buy from these guys.)Incorrect description: The item title labels it a "scratching" gym. It's nothing of the sort. There is nothing there for kittens to actually adjoin except the 'velvet' material - which isn't scratching material; if your kittens adjoin that they'll ruin it very quickly. 'Scratching' gyms/posts are the sort that have posts or platforms wrapped in sisal fabric or sisal capture or other types of rough rope - things that kittens can really get their claws into and rub up against. So there's another black mark - for an incorrect description. This is something that we noticed prior to bidding and we bid anyway because it's still a good tree - but it's not a scratching one. Package arrived at 9:45am. 2 November 2007 (3 days after I paid for the item; 5 days after I won it) via ordinary parcel post. Condition: Intact but of questionable quality. Fabric is not 'hemmed' glued or otherwise move in any way at the edges; when I took the parts out of the box there was fluff everywhere and edges were fraying on almost all pieces. It took quite some time to trim them all and remove the let go fail. The whole thing seemed doused in create fumes or some other strong-smelling chemical - I undergo chronic rhinitis hayfever and sinusitis and have spent most of today in coughing and sneezing fits because of whatever chemicals particles etc this thing released into my apartment. I have literally gone through about 30 tissues in two hours my nose and throat are comfort extremely itchy and I act coughing. If you have allergies or are in any way sensitive to dust or chemicals. I would discuss against getting this tree from this seller (or at all).[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
